Tickets for travel on public transport in London

London uses a ticket system based upon six zones which cover the London Underground (known also as the Tube), buses, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), trams and rail within the Capital. The borough of Greenwich stretches over zones 2 to 4 of London’s travel network.

You can buy paper tickets from stations and some newsagents. Re-chargeable Oyster cards can be bought online, at Underground stations and some newsagents. Using an Oyster card to travel will always be cheaper than buying a single paper ticket.

Travelcards

Travelcards are often the best option for visitors. You can get a Day Travelcard, which allows you unlimited travel across all forms of transport. A zone 1-2 Day Travelcard purchased after 9.30am is significantly cheaper than one purchased before 9.30am. These allow travel from Central London to Greenwich by DLR, rail or bus and get you a discount of 33% off Thames Clipper and other river services.

There are also Weekly Travelcards and Monthly Travelcards, but these are only available on your Oystercard.

Visit Transport for London website for more details about planning your journey and tickets.
